In early 2025, the Queensland Government began the largest consultation effort in over a decade to develop its 25-Year Blueprint for primary industries. QFVG has been at the forefront, ensuring the horticulture sector’s voice is heard and its needs are represented.

In shaping the Blueprint, QFVG contributed direct insights from growers across Queensland, highlighting the priorities that matter most for long-term sector success.

Our input emphasised critical areas including:

  • Reliable water and energy resources.

  • Infrastructure and supply chain resilience.

  • Biosecurity preparedness and response.

  • Workforce capacity and skills development.

  • Digital connectivity and data-driven decision-making.

  • Climate adaptation and disaster resilience.

We ensured the Blueprint builds on existing strategies, such as horticulture’s Future Fields roadmap, leveraging lessons learned and avoiding duplication to maximise impact for growers.

In the year ahead, QFVG will focus on working with all stakeholders to turn the Blueprint’s priorities into real-world outcomes for growers. Through advocacy, education, and industry-led initiatives, we are ensuring the plan is more than words on a page – that it delivers practical, measurable benefits on farm.

With QFVG’s guidance, the Blueprint will move beyond aspiration, grounded firmly in the expertise, realities, and vision of Queensland’s horticultural growers -securing sustainable growth for decades to come.
