ROAD TRANSPORT NETWORKS ARE CRITICAL TO DELIVERING FRESH AND HIGH-QUALITY FRUIT AND VEGETABLES TO AUSTRALIAN CONSUMERS.  

Investment in vital road transport networks including improvements in planning and management of the transport and renewable infrastructure on road networks is critical to Queensland horticulture industry.  

Queensland Fruit & Vegetable Growers advocates for:  

  • Flood proofing the Bruce highway to allow reliable freight access from Far North Queensland to key central markets. 

  • Work with the relevant ministers to ensure better access to government services in regional and rural Queensland, like health, education and transport infrastructure. 

  • State Government mandates the State Government’s Guideline on Equity and Fairness Rating in Queensland Local Governments.  

  • State Government works with Local Government to ensure fair and equitable planning and development guidelines are enacted to support and encourage the expansion of agriculture 

  • State Government actively supports agri-tourism and encourages Local Government to do the same. 

  • State Government works with Local Government to increase regional connectivity. 

  • $21 million for a Preliminary Evaluation and Business Case for the Cairns to Mareeba/ Tablelands access corridor (Kuranda Range Road).
